I’m pleased to announce that this morning, Marketwatch.com published an article of mine showing that the widely followed JOLTS report put out by the Labor Department are revealing the same kinds of employment-picture weakness made clear by wage stagnation. The monthly JOLTS data measure changes in job openings, layoffs, and voluntary and involuntary job leavings, and since Fed Chair Janet Yellen called them one of her favorite data sets, they’ve become all the rage in economics and business circles. In addition, it was great last week to see Matthew Philips of BloombergBusinessweek highlight my research showing genuinely historic recent developments in America’s oil trade. Here’s that post.
Finally, I was interviewed earlier this month on oil prices and the economy by Brian Joyce of Chattanooga, Tennessee’s WGOW-FM radio. The station doesn’t post podcasts, but Joyce did promise to send me an MP3 of the segment, and I’ll put that up as soon as I get it!
