I’m pleased to announce that I’m scheduled to return to CNBC this afternoon to comment on latest, fast-moving developments surrounding the U.S.-China trade talks and the “Phase One” deal announced last Friday.  The segment is slated to begin at 2 PM EST and, as usual, if you can’t tune in, I’ll post a link to the streaming video as soon as one become available.

In addition, the podcasts of my two Friday radio interviews on the trade talks and “mini-deal” are now on-line.  For my appearance Friday morning on “The Joe Piscopo Show” on New York City’s AM 970 The Answer, click here and scroll down till you see my name.  My segment comes on at about the 22:30 mark.

And here’s the link for my interview on “Breitbart News Tonight.”  Again, scroll down till you see my name.

Moreover, Breitbart.com yesterday posted a piece featuring my comments on a jaw-dropping confession from Nobel Prize-winning economist and New York Times columnist Paul M. Krugman.  He’s now saying that he and his free-trading colleagues have been totally wrong for decades on the question of how globalization has impacted the U.S. economy and its manufacturing sector.  Since Krugman and I have crossed swords in print before, you can count on hearing more from me on this subject before too long.

In addition, tomorrow morning at 7:25 AM EST I’ll be appearing on The Joe Piscopo Show on New York City’s AM 970 The Answer radio station to update the state of the trade talks.  Listen live on-line here, and if you can’t tune in, I’ll post a link to the podcast as soon as one’s available.

I’m pleased to announce that two podcasts of interviews last Friday are now on-line.

The first is an appearance on Frank Morano’s Morano Whenever podcast recorded Thursday afternoon.  Frank has interviewed me before on his early Sunday morning talk show on New York City’s AM 97 The Answer station.  But in contrast to those relatively brief segments, this interview went on for more than an hour and covered topics ranging from the U.S.-China trade conflict to New York Yankee baseball to my own personal experience as a stutterer (about which you can read a bit more here).  And it was all the more fun because we did the program in studio!

I hope you find it as enjoyable to listen to as I found expounding on these subjects.  Here’s the link.

That evening, I returned to the U.S.-Israeli TV network i24News program Clearcut to help provide an update to the Sino-American trade war and preview the summit between President Trump and Chinese dictator Xi Jinping that took place in Japan yesterday.  Click on this link and press the download button to watch.

For the record, I was correct in predicting that the meeting would end in an agreement to resume talks officially, but with no timetables set for progress on any of the issues at stake.  But I was wrong in predicting that no progress would be announced on any individual issues.  (I analyzed the actual results in yesterday’s post.)

My fellow panelist, Mitch Roschelle, from the global consulting firm PwC, was wrong in predicting that timetables would be agreed to.  But he was right in anticipating that the two leaders would agree to more simply to begin talking again.

Finally, on Friday, I appeared on the Newsmax TV program Liquid Lunch to talk about the trade war and the Trump-Xi summit.  No word on a podcast yet, but I’ll post one ASAP if one becomes available.

What with the State of the Union address and the ongoing Border Wall/government shutdown showdown and the Virginia political scandals, it’s been a more amazing last week or so than usual to be administering RealityCheks to the national scene.  As a result, I’ve fallen behind on tracking media appearances, so in this posting I’ll be catching up.

I’m especially pleased to report that an interview I was recently privileged to conduct with former Mexican Foreign Minister Jorge Castaneda has just gone on-line at the Henry George School of Social Sciences website.  As some of you may know, I’m a Trustee of the School, and the session was the latest in its “Smart Talk” sessions with some of the world’s leading economic thinkers.

The interview was conducted in late November, but trust me when I say that clicking on this link will bring you to a great conversation about numerous issues still in the headlines – especially concerning the continuing immigration crisis along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Last Friday, I appeared on Joe Piscopo’s morning drive-time radio talk show on New York City’s AM 970 The Answer to preview the State of the Union and discuss the state of the economy.  Special bonus:  We also briefly reviewed the big New York Knicks trade of injured star Kristaps Porzingis that was announced the day before!  Here’s the link.  My segment begins just past the 35-minute mark.

Finally, on January 22, IndustryToday.com published an detailed analysis of mine on which American manufacturing industries fared the best and worst last year in terms of job and wage growth.  Click here to read.

I’m pleased to announce that I’m scheduled to appear on Israel’s i24News TV network tonight to comment on the upcoming meeting between President Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping.  The segment is slated to start a little after 8 PM EST and you can watch it live on-line at this link – if you sign up for a “free trial subscription” beforehand.

Also, the podcasts of two new radio interviews are now on-line.  Click here for last night’s segment on the nationally syndicated John Batchelor Show, during which John, co-host Gordon G. Chang, and I previewed the Trump-Xi session.

Click here for the podcast of a wide-ranging early morning conversation on China, trade, the stock market, and the economy on the New York metropolitan area’s Joe Piscopo Show, on AM 970 The Answer.

I’m pleased to report several recent media appearances.

Last night, I was interviewed on Israel’s i24News TV network on what could be the decisive stage in negotiations between the European Union and the United Kingdom over Brexit – the latter’s decision to leave the former.  Unfortunately, i24News doesn’t make streaming videos of its content available gratis.

Yesterday morning, I appeared on The Joe Piscopo Show on New York City’s AM 970 The Answer radio.  Since I only found out about this opportunity in the wee hours that morning (don’t ask!) I couldn’t send out a pre-program alert, but a podcast is available here.

Scroll down to the link naming me, click the play button, and if you want to skip to my segment, drag the thingamajig along the bottom to the 40-minute mark.  You’ll hear a discussion that ranged from the stock market’s recent gyrations to the new U.S.-Mexico-Canada [Trade] Agreement to the troubles of American retailers.

And on Thursday, October 11, Breitbart.com featured my finding that metals-using industries in the United States were defying all expectations that they’d start hemorrhaging jobs due to the Trump steel and aluminum tariffs – not to mention refuting numerous news reports claiming that these jobs were already being shed.

I’m pleased to announce that the podcast is now on-line of my latest appearance on “The Joe Piscopo Show” on New York City’s AM 970 “The Answer” radio station. Unfortunately, the invite was too last minute to preview here, but luckily all you need to do to listen to a great discussion (with guest host Frank Morano) about where we stand currently with President Trump’s “trade wars” and their impact is click on to this link.  My segment comes on at about the 22:25 mark.

On July 26, my skepticism about the new trade agreement between Mr. Trump and the European Union was reported in this post on Lifezette.com. Click onto this post to read about the subject in more detail.

Also, it was great to be quoted on the possibility of Trump auto tariffs by in Ted Evanoff’s July 25 article on the subject in the Memphis (Tennessee) Commercial Appeal. Ted, incidentally, is a journalist who’s become a genuine expert on this topic. His 2010 book on the American automotive industry’s struggles to overcome the last recession and deeper rooted challenges is an absolute must for anyone interested in manufacturing and trade issues.

With the continuing onrush of trade and foreign policy news, it’s getting tough to announce some upcoming media appearances (especially when the opportunities arise on short notice) and to post links to podcasts as quickly as I’d like.  So here’s a catch-up column.

On Friday, July 6, it was a genuine thrill to appear on the talk radio show hosted by former Saturday Night Live cast member “Jersey Joe” Piscopo on New York City’s AM 970.  Click on this link to listen to a great conversation on President Trump’s trade policies and how they’re likely to turn out for the American economy and the global economy.  The link should take you to the start of my segment.

That same day, Breitbart.com‘s John Carney cited my finding that, contrary to the expectations of trade and globalization cheerleaders, the new U.S. jobs report showed that, despite the Trump steel and aluminum tariffs, employment has been rising at the metals-using industries that were supposed to be crippled by these moves.  Here’s the link.

On July 2, I was interviewed on “Breitbart News Tonight” on Sirius XM Patriot radio on the Trump trade policies.  You can listen to the podcast at this link.

On June 28, Gordon G. Chang quoted my views on recent U.S. efforts to curb China’s access to advanced American defense-related technology in this post for The National Interest.

Chang, Lifezette.com, Making News, manufacturing, Morano in the Morning, national security, Plastics News, Qualcomm, steel, tariffs, tech, The Christian Science Monitor, The John Batchelor Show, Trade, Trump

I’m pleased to report that, thanks largely (but not entirely) to the firestorm set off by President Trump’s announcement of steel and aluminum tariffs, it’s been a busy media period recently.

At the crack of dawn (literally!) this morning, I was interviewed on the subject on “Morano in the Morning” on New York City’s AM 970 The Answer. Here’s the podcast.  My segment begins at just before the 16-minute mark.

Speaking of podcasts, here’s the one of my appearance on John Batchelor’s nationally syndicated radio show last Wednesday. The subject, as you may recall, was the prospect of foreign interests taking over one of America’s leading semiconductor manufacturers – Qualcomm.

In addition, in a March 2 FoxNews.com post, Batchelor Show co-host Gordon G. Chang quoted in more detail my views on this proposed deal and the broader subject of foreign takeovers of key defense-related American economic assets. Here’s the link.

Also on March 2, The Christian Science Monitor featured my views on the Trump tariffs in this lengthy news analysis.

In addition, on that day, Lifezette.com‘s coverage of the tariffs included my views at length.

The day before, Plastics News highlighted my analysis of the latest U.S. manufacturing trade figures in this post.

On February 19, in another FoxNews.com post, Gordon presented my views on another proposed Chinese takeover of an important American asset – this time, an entire stock exchange!  Here’s the link.
