Time to catch up with the updates on recent media appearances – in reverse chronological order!

It was great to return this past Wednesday to Moe Ansari’s nationally syndicated “Market Wrap” radio program. Click here for the podcast of an exceptionally wide-ranging segment covering topics from the recent summit meeting of the world’s leading economies to the future of the Iran nuclear deal.

On June 16, leading China policy analyst Gordon Chang quoted me in an op-ed for The Epoch Times explaining how some features of President Biden’s economic proposals might backfire and promote employment in China, not the United States. Here’s the link.

On June 15, the Seattle Times‘ Dominic Gates featured my views in his coverage of the recent settlement of a long-running trade dispute between Europe’s Airbus and America’s Boeing. Incidentally, if there’s a U.S. journalist more knowledgeable than Dominic about the aerospace industry, I’ve never met him or her. So it was especially flattering that he sought out my perspective. Click here to read. In addition, the article was widely distributed throughout the country via the Tribune News Service syndicate.

On June 10, Chang again highlighted some of my opinions – this time in an op-ed for The Hill some of my thoughts on using U.S. trade policy more effectively to help foster prosperity in Central America and thereby stem the flow of migrants, and why previous such efforts have failed. Here’s the link.

Finally, on June 2, IndustryToday.com re-posted (with permission!) my RealityChek essay arguing that, despite numerous alarm bells, wage inflation overall in the United States seems pretty unexceptional. Click here to read.

Time to summarize some recent media appearances!

Yesterday, in a post on a new New York Federal Reserve study on U.S. trade flows, John Carney of Breitbart.com cited my own analysis of this bizarre report. Here’s the link.

Also yesterday, Len Boselovic’s Pittsburgh Post-Gazette analysis of the latest developments in manufacturing wages cited my findings about how hourly pay in industry has lost its leadership status in the U.S. economy.

On Saturday, August 11, TheDailyBeast.com ran Gordon Chang’s latest article on U.S.-China trade relations, which quoted me on the possibility of new pressure on Apple, Inc. from the Chinese government.

Finally, on July 30, I made a short-notice appearance on John Batchelor’s nationally syndicated radio show to discuss the latest developments in the U.S.’ trade confrontation with China. Here’s a link to the podcast of the segment, which experienced some technical difficulties because John was calling in from Azerbaijian!

Heckuva busy day here at RealityChek!  And it’s not over yet!

Later tonight, I’ll be back on John Batchelor’s nationally syndicated radio show to talk about the newest developments in President Trump’s China trade policy.  The segment is slated to begin at 10:15 PM EST.  You can listen live at this link to what’s sure to be an informative discussion involving John, me, and co-host Gordon Chang.  And if you’re doing something else (like watching The Americans?  Game 7 of the Washington Capitals’ playoff series?), I’ll post a link to the podcast as soon as one’s available.

This morning, I was interviewed on the same subject at CNNMoney.com.  I haven’t yet found the video on-line, but if I do, I’ll certainly let you know.

And in the afternoon, I appeared live on the Voice of America’s Chinese language broadcast to the People’s Republic in an effort to explain the Trump China trade policies.  Although you’ll have a hard time hearing the English discussion beneath the translation into Chinese, I’ll post this video ASAP as well.

In addition, my views on welfare reform were quoted in this news analysis yesterday by Brendan Kirby of Lifezette.com.  Click here to read it.

And here’s a link to an in depth interview I conducted (for a change) on a subject that should be near and dear to the hearts of everyone who holds a job or who hopes to secure employment:  whether revolutionary technologies already coming on stream will dramatically reduce the number of jobs for us humans.

The interview is part of the “Smart Talk” series sponsored by the Henry George School of Social Science – a New York City-based economics research and education organization on whose Board I serve.  My guest was Robin Gaster, a leading economics and technology consultant, and even though the subject of automation and employment has been covered extensively in the media, I have no doubt you’ll be astonished by many of Robin’s findings and insights.

I’m pleased to announce that I’m scheduled to return to John Batchelor’s nationally syndicated radio show tonight.  The segment is slated to start at 9 PM EST and the subject will be the state of U.S.-China trade relations.

As you may have noticed, China trade policy has been prominent in the news lately because of President Trump’s phone call Monday with China’s leader, Xi Jinping, and because important deadlines are rapidly approaching for Mr. Trump to impose tariffs on some categories of imports from the People’s Republic.

You can listen live on-line at this link to what’s sure to be a lively discussion involving John, co-host Gordon Chang, and me. As usual, I’ll post a link to the podcast as soon as one’s available.

And keep checking in with RealityChek for news of upcoming media appearances and other developments.

I’m pleased to report that I’m scheduled to appear on CNBC’s “Power Lunch” program at 2:30 PM EST today to talk about the chances of President Trump triggering a “trade war” with China.  You can watch the segment live on your television of course if your cable or satellite system carries the network, or view it at cnbc.com.  If you can’t tune in or log on, as usual, I’ll post a link to the streaming video as soon as it’s available.

Also, it was great to be quoted again yesterday by Gordon Chang on China issues — including on the national security front — in his latest column on Forbes.com.  Here’s the link.

I’m pleased to announce that I’m scheduled to return to John Batchelor’s nationally syndicated radio show tonight to talk about reports that the Trump administration is gearing up to fight a trade war with China. The segment, which will also feature co-host Gordon Chang, is set to air at 10:30 PM EST.

You can listen live at this link. And as usual, I’ll post a link to the podcast as soon as one’s available.

In addition, Gordon was nice enough to cite my views in his July 29 post on Forbes.com on the Taiwanese electronics giant Foxconn’s recent announcement of a major new investment in American domestic manufacturing and what it might mean for the nation’s industry.

And Lifezette.com interviewed me for a July 21 article on the Trump administration’s plan to study how dependent the U.S. defense manufacturing base is on foreign-made products.

I’m pleased to announce that I’m scheduled to appear this morning at 9:35 on WAKR-AM’s(Akron, Ohio) Ray Horner Morning Show to talk about the major decisions on trade policy that have started to come from the Trump administration this week.  Click here to listen live.  WAKR doesn’t post many podcasts, but if it does in this case, I’ll put up the link as soon as it’s available.

In addition, I was quoted yesterday in Lifezette.com‘s analysis of the president’s new blueprint for renegotiating the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).  Here’s the link.

On Sunday, China specialist and John Batchelor Show co-host Gordon Chang featured my views on the final results of President Trump’s 100-day plan to reduce the U.S. trade deficit with China.  The announcement could come any day this week, so click here to read his new Forbes.com post on the issue.

Finally, last Friday, Plastics News spotlighted my analyses of the latest U.S. manufacturing jobs and real wages figures – which didn’t exactly knock it out of the park. Here’s the link.

I’m pleased to announce that the podcast is now on-line of my appearance last night on John Batchelor’s nationally syndicated radio show.  Click here for a great discussion among John, co-host Gordon Chang, and me, of President Trump’s upcoming decision on curbing U.S. imports of steel, and how it may affect the entire global economy – including (what’s left of) America’s.

Moreover, I just finished recording an interview on similar subjects with Larry Rifkin at Americatrendspodcast.com.  Like John and Gordon, Larry is a terrific broadcast journalist and I hope his new venture wins a wide audience.  I’ll keep you posted regarding plans to post our wide-ranging conversation.

I’m pleased to present the link to the podcast of my segment last night on John Batchelor’s nationally syndicated radio show on America’s economic relations with China.  To access a lively discussion among John, co-host Gordon Chang, and former Congressman Thaddeus McCotter, and me, click here, look right to the Podcasts section, and scroll down to the entry whose label starts with “China’s rescue plan….”

In addition, it was great to see that last Friday, the White House press office distributed a release spotlighting my new New York Times op-ed endorsing President Trump’s approach to trade, jobs, and manufacturing.  Here’s the link.

Finally, today, Marketwatch.com‘s Darrell Delamaide mentioned the Times op-ed in his own latest column explaining why Mr. Trump’s America First approach to trade is long overdue.
