I’m pleased to report that Bloomberg.com has just come out with a post featuring my findings that, despite endless doomsaying claims in the Mainstream Media, there’s absolutely no evidence showing that President Trump’s steel and aluminum tariffs are already devastating America’s metals-using industries.  Author Peter Coy focuses on my research on employment in these sectors, but I hope his piece will stimulate more coverage of tariffs-related reporting that’s just as wildly off-base when it comes to other economic indicators.

In addition, last Friday, Brendan Kirby of Lifezette.com quoted my views in his post on that morning’s monthly U.S. jobs figures and what they reveal about the future.  Brendan also spotlighted my work showing outsized job-creation in metals-using industries.

I’m pleased to announce that I’m scheduled to return tonight to John Batchelor’s nationally syndicated radio show to help provide an update on President Trump’s “trade war” with China and his efforts to rework the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). The segment is slated to begin at 10 PM EST and you can listen live on-line at this link to what’s sure to be a lively discussion among John, co-host Gordon G. Chang, and me.

And as usual, I’ll be posting a link to the podcast as soon as one’s available.

Also, this past Sunday, Brendan Kirby of Lifezette.com featured my views in a fine, in-depth look he took at the puzzling lag in U.S. wages after nine years of economic recovery – and in fact recent accelerating growth. Here’s the link.

I’m pleased to announce that the podcast is now on-line of my latest appearance on “The Joe Piscopo Show” on New York City’s AM 970 “The Answer” radio station. Unfortunately, the invite was too last minute to preview here, but luckily all you need to do to listen to a great discussion (with guest host Frank Morano) about where we stand currently with President Trump’s “trade wars” and their impact is click on to this link.  My segment comes on at about the 22:25 mark.

On July 26, my skepticism about the new trade agreement between Mr. Trump and the European Union was reported in this post on Lifezette.com. Click onto this post to read about the subject in more detail.

Also, it was great to be quoted on the possibility of Trump auto tariffs by in Ted Evanoff’s July 25 article on the subject in the Memphis (Tennessee) Commercial Appeal. Ted, incidentally, is a journalist who’s become a genuine expert on this topic. His 2010 book on the American automotive industry’s struggles to overcome the last recession and deeper rooted challenges is an absolute must for anyone interested in manufacturing and trade issues.

Heckuva busy day here at RealityChek!  And it’s not over yet!

Later tonight, I’ll be back on John Batchelor’s nationally syndicated radio show to talk about the newest developments in President Trump’s China trade policy.  The segment is slated to begin at 10:15 PM EST.  You can listen live at this link to what’s sure to be an informative discussion involving John, me, and co-host Gordon Chang.  And if you’re doing something else (like watching The Americans?  Game 7 of the Washington Capitals’ playoff series?), I’ll post a link to the podcast as soon as one’s available.

This morning, I was interviewed on the same subject at CNNMoney.com.  I haven’t yet found the video on-line, but if I do, I’ll certainly let you know.

And in the afternoon, I appeared live on the Voice of America’s Chinese language broadcast to the People’s Republic in an effort to explain the Trump China trade policies.  Although you’ll have a hard time hearing the English discussion beneath the translation into Chinese, I’ll post this video ASAP as well.

In addition, my views on welfare reform were quoted in this news analysis yesterday by Brendan Kirby of Lifezette.com.  Click here to read it.

And here’s a link to an in depth interview I conducted (for a change) on a subject that should be near and dear to the hearts of everyone who holds a job or who hopes to secure employment:  whether revolutionary technologies already coming on stream will dramatically reduce the number of jobs for us humans.

The interview is part of the “Smart Talk” series sponsored by the Henry George School of Social Science – a New York City-based economics research and education organization on whose Board I serve.  My guest was Robin Gaster, a leading economics and technology consultant, and even though the subject of automation and employment has been covered extensively in the media, I have no doubt you’ll be astonished by many of Robin’s findings and insights.

I’m pleased to report that, thanks largely (but not entirely) to the firestorm set off by President Trump’s announcement of steel and aluminum tariffs, it’s been a busy media period recently.

At the crack of dawn (literally!) this morning, I was interviewed on the subject on “Morano in the Morning” on New York City’s AM 970 The Answer. Here’s the podcast.  My segment begins at just before the 16-minute mark.

Speaking of podcasts, here’s the one of my appearance on John Batchelor’s nationally syndicated radio show last Wednesday. The subject, as you may recall, was the prospect of foreign interests taking over one of America’s leading semiconductor manufacturers – Qualcomm.

In addition, in a March 2 FoxNews.com post, Batchelor Show co-host Gordon G. Chang quoted in more detail my views on this proposed deal and the broader subject of foreign takeovers of key defense-related American economic assets. Here’s the link.

Also on March 2, The Christian Science Monitor featured my views on the Trump tariffs in this lengthy news analysis.

In addition, on that day, Lifezette.com‘s coverage of the tariffs included my views at length.

The day before, Plastics News highlighted my analysis of the latest U.S. manufacturing trade figures in this post.

On February 19, in another FoxNews.com post, Gordon presented my views on another proposed Chinese takeover of an important American asset – this time, an entire stock exchange!  Here’s the link.

I’m pleased to announce the publication of my latest op-ed piece – a column for Marketwatch.com explaining why President Trump was right in slapping tariffs on imported solar energy panels.  Here’s the link.

In addition, Joe Guzzardi of Progressives for Immigration Reform, recently wrote a column based on some of my findings on wage stagnation in the United States.  Through the Cagle Syndicate, it ran in several smaller newspapers around the country – e.g., here and here.

In the January-February issue of The American Conservative, Ted Galen Carpenter of the Cato Institute quoted my views on defense burden-sharing in America’s security alliances in a piece he did on the threats created by these arrangements.  The article, alas, is behind a pay wall.

Finally, in a January 19 post, Brendan Kirby of Lifezette.com featured my views on Apple’s announcement of new investments in U.S. domestic manufacturing.  Here’s the link.

I’m pleased to announce that I am scheduled to return to John Batchelor’s nationally syndicated radio show tonight. The subject of the 9:15 PM EST segment: President Trump’s trip to Asia.

You can listen live on-line here, and as usual, I’ll post a podcast of the interview as soon as one’s available.

In addition, this morning, I was quoted in this Lifezette.com article on what would have been a genuinely game-changing, trade-related provision in the House Republican tax reform plan. I say “would have been,” because later today, the provision was removed. But given how frequently the bill’s contents have been changing, it’s still anyone’s guess whether or not it will be resuscitated sometime down the line.

Yesterday, my recent report on the latest Labor Department data on American wage growth (or lack thereof) was re-posted at IndustryToday.com. You can access it at this link.

And I just discovered that this October 18 post from the Korn Ferry Institute featured my views on the implications for businesses of President Trump’s efforts to rewrite the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). The Institute is a leading global executive search and management consulting firm.

I’m pleased to announce that I am scheduled to appear this morning on Laura Ingraham’s nationally syndicated radio show to talk about President Trump’s trip to Asia.  Listen live at 10:35 AM EST at this link. And of course if you can’t tune in, I’ll post the podcast as soon as it’s available.

The segment will deal with many of the issues raised in my new column for Laura’s Lifezette.com news site. Click here to read this call for a thorough (and Trump-ian) overhaul of America’s strategy toward the Asia-Pacific region in general and the North Korea crisis in particular.

And this November 3 Associated Press profile of Jerome Powell, Mr. Trump’s new appointee to chair the Federal Reserve, contains a funny anecdote from the days when “Jay” and I were Princeton University undergraduates.

Just FYI, AP reporter Chris Rugaber figured out the connection (which is pretty casual) through a fine bit of journalistic sleuthing. As soon as he heard about the Powell appointment, he scoured his Facebook page and discovered we had friended each other. So he called me on Halloween afternoon to see if I had any insights to offer.

I’m pleased to announce that an op-ed column of mine was published (yesterday afternoon) on Marketwatch.com. The piece explains how the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) can be rewritten to serve the interests of all three signatory countries (the United States, Canada, and Mexico) by turning the current continental trade zone into a genuine trade bloc.  Click here to read it.

In addition, on October 18, it was great to see Lifezette.com‘s Brendan Kirby spotlight my research and analysis of the mounting intellectual dishonesty and outright corruption at the nation’s major think tanks – and how they regularly hoodwink the media. Here’s the link.

On October 14, Crain’s Cleveland Business featured my views of President Trump’s manufacturing and trade policies – which I said so far have produced some positive and negative surprises.  You can access the article at this link.

On October 12, this Lifezette piece quoted me on Mr. Trump’s emerging NAFTA revamp strategy.

Finally, for now, this October 11 CNBC.com summarized my appearance that day in a segment that I thought would deal with NAFTA and trade, but instead – strangely – wound up focusing on tax reform.

I’m pleased to announce some new media appearances this week.

First, here’s a link to a long interview on trade, globalization, the U.S. economy – and, of course, the Trump effect – I gave to Larry Rifkin’s America Trends podcast.  It’s nearly an hour, but I hope lots of you will stick with it for at least a while, because Larry is one of the best interviewers I’ve run across in my decades of experience with the media.

Second, IndustryToday, which I’ll shortly start writing for as a regular columnist, has reposted my RealityChek post documenting what a failure the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) has been for American agriculture – despite endless claims to the contrary.  Here’s the link.

Third, on Tuesday, John Carney of Breitbart.com (yes, the one and only) quoted my views in a post he put up on the news that a Chinese entity is thinking of buying the prized Jeep division of Fiat Chrysler.  You can read it at this link.

Finally, Lifezette.com featured my views and manufacturing jobs data in this Monday post on what voters in Rust Belt swing states think of President Trump’s performance so far.

And keep checking in with RealityChek for news of upcoming media appearances and other developments.
