I’m pleased to announce that the podcast is now available of my interview yesterday with Moe Ansari on his nationally syndicated “Market Wrap” radio program. This was a real corker of a segment, turning into an awfully intense (but always civil!) debate about the best way for the United States to deal with the Chinese economic and national security threat – by relying on its own devices (a la, more or less, President Trump) or by building international coalitions (the preferred approach of President-elect Biden). Click here to listen and go to the “Current Market Wrap: link. My segment begins at about the 27-minute mark.

I’m pleased to announce that the podcast is now on-line of an interview last night in the wee hours on New York City’s WABC-AM’s “Other Side of Midnight” program. Click here for a timely conversation with host Frank Morano on the possibility of a Trump impeachment, the political impact of the Capitol riot, and what the latest official U.S. trade report told us about the health of the economy and the effects of Mr. Trump’s tariff-centric policies. (You’ll see my segment right at the top.)

In addition, I’ll be discussing the same subjects later today on Moe Ansari’s nationally syndicated “Market Wrap” radio show. Click here and then on the “listen live” link on the right starting at a few minutes before 8 PM EST. My segment will probably begin about halfway into the hour-long program. And if you can’t tune in, as usual I’ll be posting a link to the podcast as soon as one’s available.

As for the correction, in yesterday’s post laying out the case against impeaching the President, I stated that the Mueller report into the Trump-Russia collusion charges presented on p. 89 of its second volume the argument that mitigating against accusing Mr. Trump of obstruction of justice was abundant evidence that the President lacked criminal or corrupt intent.

This argument was indeed made, but not on that page. Instead, you’ll find on pp. 7, 47, 51, 56, 57, 62, 76, 97 and 157, descriptions of episodes indicating that the President acted out of a genuine belief that he was being framed and due to other legitimate considerations.  And on p. 7, you’ll find the explanation that the obstruction statues require “consideration of [such] motives for his conduct.”  You can also read these passages in this post.

I apologize for the error and for any confusion caused. Thanks to the careful, sharp-eyed reader who caught the mistake!

I’m pleased to announce that the podcasts are now on-line of my two national radio interviews yesterday on U.S. trade policy under a Biden administration.  The special focus:  whether the United States should be worried that 14 Asia-Pacific countries – including all of America’s main regional allies – have just signed a Chinese-organized agreement to set up a free trade zone called the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).

My appearance on Moe Ansari’s “Market Wrap with Moe” can be found at this site, and clicking on the play button of the “Current Market Wrap” (“Cold War with China”) episode.  The interview begins just before the 23-minute mark.

Meanwhile, the “John Batchelor Show” segment episode covering these subjects is located here.

I’m pleased to announce that I’m scheduled to return to national radio tonight when I guest on The John Batchelor Show.  The subjects for John, co-host Gordon G. Chang, and me will be China, trade, manufacturing, and the election.

The pandemic is still forcing John and Gordon to pre-record segments, so I’m not yet sure about air-time.  But it seems that you can listen live to the show on-line at this all-purpose link starting at 9 PM EST.  And of course, if you can’t tune in, I’ll post a link to the podcast as soon as one’s available.

In addition, yesterday, I was interviewed on the popular Market Wrap with Moe Ansari radio show on the election (including the debate!), trade policy, the future of the entire U.S. economy, the fate of CCP Virus relief legislation, and a surprising recent example of collusion with Russia.  To listen to the podcast, click here and then on the show with my name on it.  My segment starts at about the 23:38 mark.

Finally, my friend Ted Galen Carpenter has just published in the Cato Journal a fascinating piece on the history of U.S. news coverage of U.S.-China relations – which certainly has seen its ups and downs in recent decades.  It was great, moreover, to see Ted cite two of my writings along the way.  Here’s the link.

The segment comes on at about the 23:50 mark.

I’m pleased to announce that podcasts are now on-line of two recent national radio interviews focusing on the CCP Virus’ impact on the American economy.

Last night, I appeared on “Breitbart News Tonight” to discuss the likely effectiveness of the various stimulus programs already approved and certainly coming down the road.  To listen, click here, punch “Alan Tonelson” into search engine and scroll all the way down (for some reason, the segments aren’t listed in chronological order) till you see my name and April 2.

On Monday, it was great to return to “Market Wrap with Moe Ansari.” Click onto this link for a timely segment on the virus and the U.S. manufacturing sector in particular.

I’m pleased to report that I got quoted in this morning’s Washington Post on the new Federal Reserve industrial production figures (released yesterday).  Reporter Heather Long mentioned my observation that U.S. domestic manufacturing’s recent recession seems to be over.  She could have also noted the evidence I’d presented indicating that this slump never even happened, but what the heck.

Also yesterday, I was interviewed on “Market Wrap with Moe Ansari” on the new trade deal President Trump has signed with China.  You can listen to the podcast at this link;  my segment begins just after the 27-minute mark.

That same day, Breitbart.com‘s John Carney gave me a very nice shout-out in his very important piece noting new research showing that he (and I) have been right all along about the Trump trade wars having minimal-at-best effects on prices for consumer goods.  Incidentally, Post reporter Heather Long also deserves much credit for first reporting these academic findings.  Read the piece here.

On Thursday night, the U.S.-Israeli TV network i24News also interviewed me on that “Phase One” China trade deal.  To watch the interview, click here and download the file.  As usual with i24News, be sure to download the link within a week, because after that, your freebie access will be gond.

I’m pleased to announce that my views on the new U.S.-China “Phase One” trade deal have just come out via some national media organizations.

First, yesterday’s post arguing that the agreement doesn’t cut the mustard when it comes to advancing U.S. interests was re-posted on the widely read Marketwatch.com website.  Here’s the link.

Second, I was interviewed yesterday on the subject on the nationally syndicated radio show “Market Wrap with Moe Ansari.”  Click here for the link to the podcast.  My segment starts right about the 27-minute mark.  And special bonus!  We also discussed the new U.S.-Mexico-Canada-Agreement (USMCA) that replaces the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the reelection of Boris Johnson as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom – which surely makes the country’s departure from the European Union (“Brexit”) are certainty.

In addition, my December 11 RealityChek report on the disappointing performance of the inflation-adjusted wages earned by Americans during the Trump years was re-posted on the IndustryToday.com website.  Click here to see it.
