I’m pleased to announce that three recent news reports – two on the state of American manufacturing, and one on China’s growing influence over the American movie industry – have cited my views and analyses.

On July 25, this Washington Post article included my – cloudy- forecast about industry’s near future due to all the uncertainties created by President Trump’s tariff-centric trade policies.  It was also gratifying to see a Mainstream Media piece mention my observations about technical manufacturing recessions – I believe that’s a first.

For more on recent manufacturing recessions, including the one in which industry is still stuck, see this recent post of mine.

This Washington Post piece was also reprinted in several major dailies around the country, like the Denver Post.

The day before, this post on Modern Machine Shop‘s blog quoted from my recent offering on how U.S.-based companies have dealt with Mr. Trump’s tariffs.

Finally, on July 19, former Michigan Republican Congressman Thaddeus McCotter’s essay for the American Greatness website on Hollywood’s latest kowtow to Chinese investors mentioned a tweet of mine on the subject.  Here’s the link.

I’m pleased to announce that I’m scheduled to return to John Batchelor’s national radio show tonight to help update the U.S.-China trade conflict.  The segment will feature John, co-host Gordon G. Chang, former U.S. Republican Congressman from Michigan Thaddeus McCotter, and me.

Slated to begin at 9:15 PM EST, our conversation will be focusing on President Trump’s dramatic announcement that he will in fact be meeting after all with Chinese President Xi Jinping at a global economic summit in Japan next week.  Click here to listen live on-line, and as usual, I’ll post a link to the podcast as soon as one’s available.

Speaking of the trade conflict, Gordon quoted my views in his own summit preview in this June 17 National Interest post.

And last Friday, I appeared again on the American-Israeli TV network i24News to discuss the impact of the trade conflict on the Chinese and American economies.  Click on this link and press the download button to access it.

I’m pleased to announce that I’ll be returning to John Batchelor’s nationally syndicated radio show tonight.  I’m not yet sure about the segment’s timing, though, and the best way to find out is to follow me on Twitter (@AlanTonelson) if you don’t so do already.  I’ll be sending out that info via that platform.  The subject, not surprisingly, will be an update of the U.S.-China trade wars.

You can listen live on-line here.  And as usual, I’ll post a link to the podcast as soon as one’s available.

Speaking of podcasts, one’s on-line of my latest appearance on the program – a very short notice interview on Monday night.  Click here for the usual robust discussion involving John, co-host Gordon G. Chang, former Michigan Republican Congressman Thaddeus McCotter, and me.

Also, the video is now available of my Monday night interview on the American-Israeli TV network i24News.  To view this segment, which covered President Trump’s proposed border security-related tariffs on Mexico, click here and then press the download button.  The file will take a few moments to transfer and, at least in this case, you might have to sit through a few more moments of ads before you can open it up.

I’m pleased to announce that a new op-ed of mine on the China trade talks has just been published by The Washington Times.  Click here to read the piece, which explains why a new, high tariff normal is coming to U.S.-China economic relations, and why these and other tighter curbs on commerce represent the only long-term approach that can adequately serve American economic interests.

In addition, I’m slated to be returning tonight to John Batchelor’s nationally syndicated radio show to help John, co-host Gordon G. Chang, and former Michigan Republican Congressman Thaddeus McCotter update the fast moving negotiations between Washington and Beijing.  You can listen live on-line to the segment, scheduled to begin at 9 PM EST, at this link.  And as usual, if you can’t tune in or log on, I’ll be posting a link to the podcast as soon as one’s available.

And keep checking in with RealityChek for news of upcoming media appearances and other developments.

I’m pleased to announce that the podcast is now on-line of my interview last night on John Batchelor’s nationally syndicated radio show providing an update on President Trump’s threatened tariff hikes and their possible impact on the U.S.-China trade conflict.  Click here for an illuminating discussion with John, me, co-host Gordon G. Chang, and former Michigan Republican Congressman Thaddeus McCotter.

Also, it was especially great to receive from i24News a link to the video of last night’s China trade interview on that Israeli television network.  Click on it, and you should be able to access the segment via the download button and then opening it up.

Finally, a useful analysis of the trade conflict appearing in an Atlantic post today featured a recent RealityChek explanation of why it’s so unlikely that the negotiators can reach a deal that serves U.S. interests.  Click here to read it.

It’s been such a busy week that I didn’t get a chance to post the podcast of my interview Monday night on John Batchelor’s nationally syndicated radio show.  The subjects:  Will America’s manufacturers be able to capitalize on opportunities created by President Trump’s tariff-centric trade policies toward China? And how far and fast can Beijing let the automation revolution proceed?

Click here to listen to a great discussion of these issues with John, co-host Gordon G. Chang, former Michigan Republican Congressman Thaddeus McCotter.
