I’m pleased to announce that the podcast of my latest radio appearance is now on-line. Click here to listen to a wide-ranging conversation last Friday between me and WAKR-AM (Akron, Ohio)’s Ray Horner.  The subjects: President Biden’s suggestion that he might unilaterally lift some of the Trump administration’s tariffs on imports from China in order to fight inflation; China’s recent devaluation of its currency; and the chances that the U.S. economy will tip into recession.

In addition, it was great to be quoted on Mr. Biden’s China trade policy in Gordon G. Chang’s May 11 op-ed for The Hill. Here’s the link.

Finally, IndustryToday.com reprinted (with permission!) two recent posts of mine – on why cutting the China tariffs is such a lousy idea (on May 10) , and on the latest (strong) official U.S. manufacturing jobs figures (on May 9).

I’m pleased to announce that tomorrow (Monday) I’m scheduled to appear on two radio programs.

The first is a return to the “Ray Horner Morning Show” on Akron, Ohio’s WAKR-AM radio. We’re slated to start at 8:15 AM EST and we’ll be talking the state of trade policy and U.S. manufacturing. You can listen live by clicking here and then pressing the “Listen Live” link near the upper left-hand corner. As usual, I’ll be posting a link to the podcast if and when one becomes available.

Later that morning, I’ll be taping another segment for the nationally syndicated “CBS Eye on the World with John Batchelor.” Air time tomorrow night is yet to be determined, but the show is on nightly between 9 PM and 1 AM EST, and John, co-host Gordon G. Chang, and I will be examining the unexpected turns (see, e.g., here) being taken by the Biden administration’s China policy lately. Listen live at, e.g., this link  (the entire program is always a treat).  And if you can’t tune in, this podcast will also be posted as soon as it’s on-line.

I’m pleased to announce that two podcasts of recent radio interviews are on-line.

Here’s a link to the first – my interview Wednesday night on John Batchelor’s nationally syndicated radio show on the latest phase in President Trump’s China trade policy.

And here’s a link to the second – an interview early this morning on Breitbart News Daily on Sirius XM Patriot radio on those possible new Trump auto tariffs and their impact on the effort to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

Moreover, the video is now on-line of my Wednesday appearance on a Voice of America Chinese-language TV show, during which I tried to explain the Trump China policies to a Chinese audience. My English-language remarks are almost impossible to hear beneath the translator’s voice, but I thought some of you might get a kick out of this segment anyway. Click here to see it.

In addition, I was interviewed later this morning on the new North Korea nuclear crisis developments – including the on-again Trump-Kim Jong Un summit? – on the Ray Horner Morning Show on Akron, Ohio’s WAKR-AM. Unfortunately, WAKR doesn’t post many podcasts.

Even so, keep checking in with RealityChek for news of upcoming media appearances and other developments.

Those Trump tariffs kept me awfully busy this past week – here’s a quick rundown of media-related developments:

Yesterday morning, I was interviewed on Akron, Ohio’s WAKR-AM on the new course apparently being taken in U.S. trade policy. I’ll post a link to any podcast that becomes available, but unfortunately, WAKR doesn’t present podcasts comprehensively.

Also yesterday, my analysis of the new U.S. manufacturing jobs numbers was cited in a post on the subject by Breitbart.com Economics and Finance Editor John Carney. Here’s the link.

On March 7, my views on senior White House economic aide Gary Cohn’s tariff-related resignation were quoted in this Washington Post article.

That same day, this Newsweek piece referenced my findings strongly indicating that many other U.S. trade partners have filling the vacuum that’s been left in the American market by tariffs that have kept out much Chinese steel – including by simply sending their imports from China stateside.

And also on March 7, Steel News featured coverage of my Monday CNBC appearance on the Trump tariffs. Here’s the link.

I’m pleased to announce that I’m scheduled to appear this morning at 9:35 on WAKR-AM’s(Akron, Ohio) Ray Horner Morning Show to talk about the major decisions on trade policy that have started to come from the Trump administration this week.  Click here to listen live.  WAKR doesn’t post many podcasts, but if it does in this case, I’ll put up the link as soon as it’s available.

In addition, I was quoted yesterday in Lifezette.com‘s analysis of the president’s new blueprint for renegotiating the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).  Here’s the link.

On Sunday, China specialist and John Batchelor Show co-host Gordon Chang featured my views on the final results of President Trump’s 100-day plan to reduce the U.S. trade deficit with China.  The announcement could come any day this week, so click here to read his new Forbes.com post on the issue.

Finally, last Friday, Plastics News spotlighted my analyses of the latest U.S. manufacturing jobs and real wages figures – which didn’t exactly knock it out of the park. Here’s the link.

I’m pleased to report that the video of my interview earlier today on CNBC on President Trump’s intentions toward the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) is on line.  Click here for an informative segment involving me, the Council on Foreign Relations’ Thomas Bollyky, and CNBC anchors Kelly Evans and Mike Santoli.

In addition, on February 10, Lifezette.com ran this post previewing the just-concluded summit between Mr. Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. It included my views on U.S.-Japan trade relations.

On February 8, Marketwatch.com featured my comments on the crucial economic question – posed recently by President Trump – of whether the U.S. economy is better off with a strong or weak dollar.  Click here to read them.

The previous day, a Marketwatch analysis of the recently released 2016 U.S. trade figures highlighted my perspective on President Trump’s chances of significantly changing America’s approach to the global economy.  Here’s the link.

On February 6, I was interviewed on “The Ray Horner Morning Show” on Akron, Ohio’s WAKR-AM on Mr. Trump’s trade and manufacturing policies. Unfortunately, a podcast is not yet available.

This February 3 post on Lifezette drew upon my same-day report on the January U.S. jobs figures – which closed the book on former President Obama’s employment-creation record.

And on January 30, the U.S. government-run Voice of America interviewed me on the future of U.S.-China trade and broader economic relations. You can read some excerpts at this post – which was translated somewhat imperfectly from the original Mandarin

I’m pleased to announce that it’s been a busy media week!  Let’s start with the latest development and work our way back.

This morning, Lifezette.com published my latest outside article.  It’s a detailed look at how Washington’s misguided decision to press for China’s admission into the World Trade Organization in 2001 wound up backfiring disastrously on the American steel industry and its workers, and could slam many other advanced manufacturing sectors.  Here’s the link.

To look more closely at the article’s findings, Lifezette founding editor Laura Ingraham interviewed me on her nationally syndicated radio show this morning.  Here’s the link to the podcast.   My segment starts at about the 55-minute mark, and I get introduced at about the 59-minute mark.

Laura and I also discussed how such disastrous trade decisions have decimated upstate New York State — which of course is the scene these days of heated presidential primary battles involving long-time trade policy critics Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders.  And yesterday Lifezette’s coverage of the primary quoted some of my views.  Check it out at this link.

On April 1, IndustryWeek’s coverage of the new March U.S. jobs report featured my analysis of the big losses suffered in manufacturing.  Here’s the link.

That day, Brendan Kirby of Lifezette also spotlighted my same-day report on the manufacturing jobs numbers.  His article is available at this link.

On March 31, the Washington Post’s obituary of noted economist Lester Thurow presented an excerpt from a review I wrote for one of Thurow’s last books.  Click on this link to see it.

On March 30, I appeared on the Ingraham show with guest host Paul Viollis.  Click here for the podcast of our discussion of U.S.-China economic and security relations.

Also, on March 30, I appeared on the Ray Horner Morning Show, on Akron, Ohio’s WAKR-AM radio to talk trade, jobs, and the presidential campaign.  Unfortunately, no podcast is available.
